Wilfong's Have Formidable Pair (01/15/13)

After two competitive rounds of the Incredible Finale Series Wednesday’s $9,350 Final shapes up to a wide-open affair for ICF pacing fillies and mares.

Early favoritism is divided between the Brent Wilfong trained entry of Feel Like Dancing and Chariots Afire at 3-1, double-series victor Cee Cee’s Delight (Brian Carpenter) at 7-2, and first leg winner Dallas Jones (Casey Leonard) at 9-2.

The Wilfong family’s home-breds Feel Like Dancing and Chariots Fire each come off solid second leg races and both sophomore fillies; unraced as two-year-olds, look formidable in the sixth race headliner.

“We pointed both fillies for this series,” said Kyle Wilfong who drives Feel Like Dancing away from post five while Josh Sutton gets the catch drive behind Chariots Afire (p.p. 7). “As you saw they both turned in some nice last quarters.

“After Wednesday’s race they’ll both turned-out and get some time off and then we’ll get them ready for the stake season.”

Kyle didn’t expect to have Feel Like Dancing on the front-end early-on in last week’s second round race and when she did the 21-year-old slowed the pace down to a 1:02.1 half before giving it up.

“I was looking for someone to come up and cover us up but no one wanted the front so I took it,” continued Kyle who after relinquishing command maneuvered his filly into position to sweep past with a 1:571 clocking.

“We were thrilled with Feel Like Dancing’s 27 last quarter, plus the fact we were able to follow-up beat a filly like Dallas Jones who comes home good every week,” said Kyle.

Chariots Afire was a far-back fourth in her career debut in the first round but then came on strong last week.

“In her first start everything went wrong but in her second start we got a nice little trip following the favorite in the stretch and my filly came home in :26 and 4 like it was nothing.” added Kyle.

The sixth race feature also has Duneside Brat (12-1, Marcus Miller), Rich Item (15-1, Sam Widger), Fox Valleu Roocher (8-1, John De Long), RT Skyscraper (5-1, Trace Skyscraper), Our Miss Kristi (6-1, Mike Oosting) and O M G (8-1, Todd Warren).
