Looking Back
Jet Laag
This son of Laag is shown in the above picture winning his American National elimination race with the late Brian Pinske in the sulky on June 1, 1996 at Sportsman’s Park. A week later Jet Laag would capture the $251,000 American National Final with Bill O’Donnell at his lines. Jet Laag was the first major star pacer for trainer Linda Toscano. As a 3-year-old the horse made over $250,000. He was third in Maywood Park’s $277,000 Windy City Final to Oye Vey and then the runner-up in the $200,000 Provincial at Windsor Raceway. Jet Laag finished the 2000 season as a 7-year-old, ending his career as a millionaire in purse earnings ($1,001,746). He took his lifetime mark of 1:49 as a 6-year-old when he won the $58,000 Senior Jug at Delaware, Ohio, at that time a world record for an aged horse on a half-mile track. For days later he captured the $52,500 Magical Mike and ended that season with earnings of $213,465. To view Archived Notes and Quotes click here
