She was one of the top pacing mares to race on the Chicago circuit in the early part of this century.
Cinder Best raced from 1999 as a 2-year-old through 2005 as an 8-year-old when she posted 49 career victories and over $810,000 in purse earnings.
The Ohio bred mare had her best season money-wise as a 4-year-old in 2001 when she banked $194,245 for trainer Jeff Miller.
That season Cinder Best won an Open at Hoosier Park, an Open at The Meadowlands, a Preferred at Scioto Downs and captured the $83,700 Fairy Godmother stake at Balmoral Park with Andy Miller at her lines.
After making a little over $69,000 in 2002, Cinder Best put another $118,775 on her card in 2003 while splitting most of her time between Illinois and Indiana.
The Cambest mare captured a Preferred at Hawthorne and an Open at Balmoral, both with Tony Morgan driving for trainer Seldon Ledford. She also won a $22,100 stake in Ohio at Delaware with Dave Hawk at the controls.
Cinder Best’s best season for victories came in 2004 as a 7-year-old when she won 14 races, all for the Ledford Stable. She nailed down four Open wins at Maywood, three at Balmoral and two at Hawthorne.
She went on to capture the $86,000 Fairy Godmother (see photo above) with Ryan Anderson and later took a $20,950 Aged Mare event at Delaware with Eric Ledford. The mare finished 2004 with another $175,542 added to her bankroll.
Cinder Best won another seven races and almost $75,000 in her final year (2005) at the age of eight.
