ICF Freshman Fillies Debut (06/08/10)

Posted Tuesday, June 9, 2010

                                                       By Mike Paradise

We get our initial look at some Illinois bred freshman pacing fillies Wednesday night with aspirations to become players in some of the major state-bred stakes later in the season.

The second race $5,000 Egyptian Grande stake will have six youngsters going to the post for the first time. Let’s take a look at the six baby fillies making their pari-mutuel debuts.

No. 1 Queen of The Nile is a daughter of Art’s Conquest bought for only $1,900 at the Walker Standarbred Sale. She’s the fifth foal of Bow Princess whose first three are Cle Hand Luke (1:53.1), Cole’s Amity Jane (1:56.4) and Seemingly Z Tam (1:54.3).

Little Maeve is one of two Roger Welch trained youngsters in the Egyptian Grande and they’ll race uncoupled with different ownership. This daughter of Ideal Towne is the fourth foal of R N Labelle and the first was her brother Omaha Survivor (1:52.1, $154,160), winner of Hawthorne’s $71,000 Fox Valley Dynamic stake a few years ago.

Little Maeve’s full sisters are her dam’s next two foals, Towne Nurse (1:54.3) and Ava Labelle (1:57.1). Little Maeve sold under the name Leggin For Lisa for $3,500 at last year’s Walker sale.

At the same auction the Trenton Watson stable’s Primrose Path went for $10,000. She’s the first live foal by the On The Road Again mare Princess Prim. Her first, Road To Perdition, died.

BS Smokin Arizona is the Christine Buttice stable’s homebred daughter by Arizona Jack out of the Ideal Society mare Smoke Arisin’, her dam’s seventh foal. Among BS Smokin Arizona’s siblings are Park Lane Spirit (1:56.1), Flubba Dubba Doo (1:59.3) and Blu Blu Suedeshoes (1:57).

The Lavern Hostetler barn’s Fox Valley Sedona, a $14,000 purchase at Walker’s, is the fourth foal of the Incredible Finale dam C Suzabelle. She’s by Richest Hanover, as is her full brother Sponzo Brotka (1:53). Fox Valley Sedona’s half-sister is the multi-stakes champion Kelly’s Keepsake (1:51.1), a Sportamaster offspring who has amassed over $525,000 in earnings and captured the 2007 Orange and Blue and First Lady (Du Quoin) championships for the Erv Miller stable.

Batgirl, the second Roger Welch trainee in the field, was auctioned off for $9,000 when he name was Ms Ziva at the Walker sale. She’s the third foal of the Incredible Finale broodmare Fox Valley Fallon. Her first was the Art’s Conquest gelding Youth Uprising (1:52.4) and her second Batgirl’s full brother Bobcat Banks (1:55.1).
