County Fair Report (08/02/10)

Posted Monday August 2, 2010

                                                         County Fair Report

Twenty two-year-old driver Terry Skinner had a busy and profitable Sunday on the Illinois County Fair Circuit. The Mississippi native started off Sunday afternoon at the Altamont Fair in Effingham County with a pair of victories and finished his day at the Southern Illinois’ White County Fair in the city of Carmi, some 115 miles down the road, with a winner that evening as well . . . At Altamont drove Storm Queen to her third season win in the second Big 10 Three-Year-Old Trot Division and followed in the next race steering his own freshman Problem Solver to a 2:02 clocking in the first Big 10 Two-Year-Old Pace, the son of Sportmaster’s fourth season triumph. Skinner had three more drives on the card and then left for the city of Carmi where he got behind Curtis Rice’s double Maywood Park stakes champion Little Miss Henry and took her to a five-plus length victory in the Egyptian Colt Stakes Association freshman filly division. It was the daughter of Henry Clay’s second win in three days on the circuit, having won at the Charleston Fair on Friday, and the filly’s third victory in seven days. Little Miss Henry made a winner’s circle stop at Urbana on July 26, a start that followed her second place finish in a July 17 Hanover stake at Balmoral Park. . . . Fox Valley Presto was an easy 3 and 1/2 length victor in the ECS two-year-old colt division for driver Brian Cotton and trainer Philip Cotton who also teamed-up to win with the ECS freshman colt division with Fox Valley Flight.
