Mostly they’ll be of the great horses who have competed in our state through the years. At times they’ll be pictures from the winner’s circle, special celebrations, and in some cases old memorable race track scenes. Some of these photos haven’t been printed or posted in decades . . . others have never been printed at all.

                                                              MAYWOOD PARK 1970
  
  This was the scene at Maywood Park some 40 years ago. The year was 1970 when the track’s executive-president Sid Anton is shown here wiping the mud off the face of winning driver Billy Haughton after the Hall of Famer guided won a pair of $20,000 stake divisions that late July night with the pacers Rum Customer and Carbine Hanover over a sloppy racing strip.

  Rum Customer would go on to be named the 1970 Aged Pacer of the Year and eventually join an elite millionaire’s club at the time, retiring with purse earnings of $1,001,548 and a mark of 1:56 flat.
