Chicago legend Mike Paradise Passes Away
Mike Paradise of Rolling Meadows lived nearly 84 years with a full heart-devoted to his family, fueled by his passions & guided by kindness.
Born September 12, 1941, Mike grew up in Chicago, graduating from Austin Hish School before serving in the U.S. Navy.
For more than 50 years he made his mark in the world of harness horse racing, during which he became a nationally recognized figure achieving milestones that left a lasting impression on the industry, but his first and forever love was baseball-a game he cherished not just for it’s strategy, but for the friendships of his APBA family and joy it brought.
Mike’s truest legacy is the love he gave. He was happiest surrounded by family, sharing stories, laughter and quiet moments of connection.
His gentle spirit, quick wit and generous heart touched everyone who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Shelly; his daughter Laura (Jesse) Housman, and her children Jack (Jaclyn), Danny and Amanda Zachary; his son Michael Daniel (Diane) Paradise & their children Nicole & Michael Robert; and his sister Angel Ricci.
A memorial Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 31, from 1-4 p.m. at Arlington Lakes Golf Club, 1211 S. New Wilke Road, Arlington Heights. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite baseball attire in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Special Leisure Services Foundation, 3000 W. Central Road, Suite 205, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008 or click on the name and it will direct you to the site.
